Male Fertility Assessment

Embarking on the journey toward understanding male fertility involves a multifaceted approach that begins with a thorough evaluation of your health and reproductive history. Our clinic is dedicated to providing an empathetic, detailed exploration of your fertility, utilizing the latest diagnostic technologies and personalized care.

Initial Steps in Male Fertility Evaluation

Foundational Consultation

Your pathway to understanding begins with an extensive review of your medical, reproductive, and urological history. A physical examination of the pelvic organs, including the penis, testicles, prostate, and scrotum, is an essential part of this initial assessment. The cornerstone of our evaluation, however, lies in the detailed semen analysis, assessing sperm quantity and quality against WHO 2021 standards.

Hormonal Evaluation

Through blood tests, we assess vital hormone levels that play a pivotal role in male fertility, including Testosterone (T), FSH, LH, PRL, TSH, and sex hormone-binding globulin.

Karyotyping and Genetic Testing

A karyotype analysis, performed through a blood test, determines chromosome count and structure, essential for identifying genetic factors affecting fertility. This, along with targeted genetic testing of sperm, helps us detect severe male factor infertility, long-term sterility, and risks for recurrent miscarriages, guiding decisions on IVF treatment strategies or the use of donor sperm.

Scrotal Ultrasound

This imaging test allows us to detect physical abnormalities that could influence fertility, such as varicocele or other scrotal pathologies.

Addressing Common Causes and Enhancing Fertility

Male infertility can stem from various sources, from sperm abnormalities to lifestyle factors and genetic conditions.

Recognizing and addressing these causes is central to our approach, which includes:

  • Lifestyle Modifications: Advising on diet, exercise, and stopping harmful habits like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

  • Medical and Family History Review: A deep dive into your health background and family medical history illuminates potential hereditary factors affecting fertility.

  • Comprehensive STD Screening: Essential for identifying infections that may silently compromise sperm quality and overall reproductive health.
